Ana plays on Thursday, June 1 against Magda Linette in the third round of the French Open, her greatest success to date in Paris. Twice she has played in the second round but did not progress further. Romanian Irina Begu stopped Ana in 2015, and last year Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova defeated her. Three years ago, Ana won in the first qualifying round, but did not manage to win twice in a row on that occasion either.

Ana is the 30th ranked tennis player in the world today, and for the first time a seed at the Roland Garros. It was clear in the first two rounds that there would be no one from TOP 30 on the other side of the net. In the first round, Danka Kovinic who is 107th ranked was her opponent. Ana won with 7:5 and 7:6 and got through to the second round and a match against five years older Linette from Poland, who she knows well. The two of them are good friends and have often trained together. They play doubles together in this year's French Open. They played on the Tour once before. It was last year in San Antonio. Ana was convincing with 6:0 and 7:6.

Magda, trained by Izo Žunić from Split, managed to qualify to the second round of the Grand Slam tournament for the second time in her career. The first time this happened was in 2015 at the US Open. Meanwhile this is Ana's seventh success in the first round of Grand Slams. Her greatest Grand Slam success was last year at the US Open - Quarterfinal! Before that she managed to get through to the 3rd round of Wimbledon, after successfully played qualifications in 2014. Ana has thirteen wins in Grand Slam tournaments (two in Melbourne, three in Roland Garros and Wimbledon, and five at US Open).

The match between Ana and Linette is the first match scheduled on Thursday, June 1, starting at 11 on field # 17.
